I'll try to make it a habit to do this at least once a week. Anyways, there's a lot to post about since my last blog in March.

I'll start with the Minnesota Wild. Well there's not very much news to report here considering the current state of the NHL. However, it does look like an agreement is being made finally. I'd like to comment on Jeremy Roenick. About a week ago, he said this:
"And they better understand that pro athletes are not cocky. Pro athletes care about the game. . . . Everybody out there who calls us spoiled because we play a game - they can all kiss my (expletive). They can all kiss my (expletive)."I will say personally, personally, to everybody who calls us spoiled, you guys are just jealous, and screw you guys, because we have tried so hard to try to get this game back on the ice. . . . We are trying to get this game back on the ice to make it better for the fans. And if you don't realize that, then don't come. We don't want you in the rink, we don't want you in the stadium, we don't want you to watch hockey. Period."

Okay...I know Roenick is a guy that speaks his mind, and I can respect that, but when you say something like this, you've gone too far in my opinion. During a lockout, you shouldn't be saying "We don't want you in the rink, we don't want you in the stadium, we don't want you to watch hockey. Period" Stupid. Most of America didn't even care that the NHL wasn't up and running this year, and then you go and say something like that. Comments like that just make people more angry.

Roenick did later apologize and try to explain himself, but I think the damage has already been done.

Moving on to the Minnesota Timberwolves. With a disappointing season now behind them, hopefully they will be able to make the right off season moves to put them back into the playoffs. And I think they made a big step towards that by drafting Rashad McCants, guard, of UNC with the 14th overall selection in the NBA draft. I think this guy could be great especially with the help of Kevin Garnett. McCants is a guy that can take isn't afraid to take it to the hole and draw fouls and get to the free throw line, where he's very accurate. He will have to work on his defense though. So with the addition of McCants, it looks like Latrell Sprewell could be out the door. Do I care? Not really. His bad attitude hurt the team this season. And the Timberwolves offered him a $10 million contract, that wasn't enough. He said "I've got to feed my kids" or something to that effect. Gimme a break. He's not worth $10 million. Some noteable free agents are Ray Allen and Michael Redd. Allen is most likely out of our reach, but Redd could be a very valuable acquistion if they choose to go after him. And the Timberwolves have publicly said that they plan to be active in free agency...Thank God.

Next, the Minnesota Twins. The Twins up to this point have been relatively solid. They're just getting over a cold streak, but are leading the Wild Card race. I'm not too worried about them, and there's still a lot of baseball to be played before the season's over. They've turned it on in the second half of the season and finished strong in the last couple of seasons, so I expect that they'll do the same this year. Hopefully the Yankees keep losing. Currently they're sitting at .500.

And I have saved the best for last. The Minnesota Vikings. This has been an off season to remember. Let's recap it:
Free agents added:
DT Pat Williams
CB Fred Smoot
S Darren Sharper
K Paul Edinger
QB Brad Johnson
WR Travis Taylor

Then they traded Randy Moss for LB Napoleon Harris, the 7th overall pick in the NFL draft, and a 7th round pick.

The Vikings then traded the 7th round pick for another LB, Sam Cowart.

In the draft the Vikings selected Troy Williamson, WR, University of South Carolina with the 7th overall pick, and they also took Erasmus James, DE, Wisconsin in the later stages of the first round. They drafted Marcus Johnson, G, Ole Miss in the second round also.

And Red McCombs is no longer owner. WOO HOOOO!!! Finally the penny pinching Texan is gone. The new owner Zygi Wilf has promised that the Vikings will never move from Minnesota. I'm pleased with the new ownership so far.

All in all, this could be a very exciting fall season for Minnesota sports fans. The NHL could be back, the Timberwolves will have a fresh start, hopefully the Twins will be in the playoffs, and the Minnesota Vikings will have a revamped defense, which some speculate could take them to the Super Bowl this season. Let's hope it all pans out.

Vikings sign Pat Williams

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with DT Pat Williams. A veteran who was previously on the Buffalo Bills will be a big help to the Vikings defensive line. This guy should take major pressure off of Kevin Williams and should be a great run stuffer. It's good to see that the Vikings have jumped right into free agency and made a move.
Here's a link: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/3433914

Welcome!

Welcome to my little spot on the web.
